I am making my own tesserae (pieces to be used in a mosaic) from a sheet of stained glass.       



Start with a basic outline or cartoon.
 Use color, shape, and flow to "paint"       the  picture.
 Fill in the design with small, consistent interstices.

Getting started on the egret bench. It is coming to life. The blue background added, mortared and ready to sit on!
